     Mandukasana | Frog Pose

In Sanskrit “Manduka” means “Frog” and “Asana” means “Pose“. The final position of this pose resembles the shape of the frog so it is called as Mandukasana or frog  pose. Mandukasana or frog pose is an excellent exercise to reduce acidity, burning belly fat and for improving thigh muscles.  

         Precaution of mandukasana

  • People suffering from peptic or duodenal ulcer, severe back pain and cardiac problem, and patients who have undergone abdominal surgery should avoid this exercise.
  • Knee pain patients should avoid it.
  • Don’t put maximum stretch on your stomach; try to maintain the pose for longer period of time.
  • Avoid if having ankle injuries, High blood pressure, Insomnia, Migraine.
  • A pregnant women should not practice. 

       Procedure of mandukasana

  • Sit in Vajrasana and make fists with both hands, the thumbs inside. 
  • Place your fists on your belly next to the belly button.
  • Bend forward with exhalation. 
  • Keep looking straight.
  • Hold your breath in the yoga posture for a few seconds and come up with inhalation. 
  • Repeat this pose for 3-4 times.
